December 2017 and January 2018
During the past two months, no evidence about brown bears has been recorded; all of them are most probably still in hibernation.
The wolves, on the contrary, are constantly moving and evidences come from all the areas in which their presence has been confirmed (Lessinia mountains, Carega mountains, Pasubio mountains, right side of Valsugana valley, upper part of Non valley, upper part of Fiemme and Fassa valleys). Other sporadic evidences from different areas, such as Bondone and Vigolana mountains, still have to be confirmed.
The Forest and Fauna Service of the Province of Trento is currently analyzing the data collected during the year 2017 on large carnivores (brown bear, wolf and lynx), which will be presented at the MUSE – Science Museum of Trento, on Tuesday March 6th 2018, at 8:45 p.m., during a specific event dedicated to the “Rapporto Grandi carnivori 2017”.
